TDOT Smartway I-440
In mid 2006 Traffic Control Devices began work on the Tennessee Department of Transportation Nashville Smartway phase II project . This phase of the TDOT Nashville Smartway included ITS devices covering all of I-440 and portions of I-65 , I-40 , and I-24 .
Our services on this project included installation of :
 36 Demarcation / hub cabinets
19 CCTV Systems and Cabinets
74 Radar Vehicle Detectors and Cabinets
30 Solar Power Systems
10 Dynamic Message Signs
We also provided communications from each of these devices back to the demarcation points across fiber optic cabling and back to the Transportation Management Center across leased T-1 and 9.6 K data lines provided by AT+T .
This communication backbone included installation and integration of :
102 Serial Data Fiber Optic Modems
38 Video / Serial Data Fiber Optic Modems
43 CSU/DSU units to transmit across the AT+T leased lines
19 Video Encoders
19 Video Decoders
5 Video Servers broadcasting live traffic images to the TDOT website
12 Digital Spread Spectrum Radios
36 Radar Vehicle Detectors w/Integrated Spread Spectrum Radios
